[A Garden of Earthly Delights]: 정원으로의 회기

14 November - 19 December 2026

This group exhibition explores the relationship between nature and humanity through the motif of the garden, while inviting a reconsideration of how art is exhibited and experienced. The exhibition space is conceived as a garden, where works bearing distinct ideas and narratives intersect to form new contexts. These contexts emerge not only through the relationships between the works themselves, but also through the specificities of the space, the curatorial approach, and the viewers’ movements, perspectives, and personal interpretations. Rather than engaging with each work in isolation, viewers are invited to discover the connections between works and their surroundings, experiencing the exhibition as an open, biodiverse ecosystem.

Cultivating a garden is an act of attending to the many forms of life around us, from soil and plants to animals and insects, and of forming relationships in response to their changing conditions. This practice is connected to humanity’s longstanding efforts to observe and understand the world and to learn how to live within it. From the cave paintings of Lascaux to contemporary art, humans have expressed their observations of the world through diverse forms shaped by memory, sensation, and imagination. Gardening and the creation and appreciation of art are thus connected through a shared desire to understand the world around us and to establish relationships within it.

Just as diverse plants retain their individual characteristics while contributing to a shared environment, the works in the exhibition coexist without being reduced to a single interpretation. Taking the time to observe each work, engage with its underlying context and narrative, and remain open to unfamiliar perspectives creates possibilities for exchange beyond visual appreciation alone. The care involved in tending a garden extends into an attitude of respecting the individuality of each work and seeking to understand its meaning.

Care extends beyond art and nature to include the viewers themselves. To care for a plant is not to exercise complete control over its growth, but to accept natural changes and unpredictable conditions, adjusting one’s own approach to their rhythms. Similarly, experiencing an exhibition offers an opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday life and attune oneself to a different rhythm shaped by the exhibition space. This exhibition invites viewers to slow down, pay closer attention to the works and their surroundings, and reconsider familiar scenes from a new perspective. Like a garden where diverse forms of life coexist and form relationships, the exhibition becomes a space for exploring the possibilities of care and exchange. Within it, viewers may encounter the beauty of life that has previously gone unnoticed and reflect on how they relate to the world around them.
